A few nights ago, Michelle appeared with a small group at Bowman’s Tavern on “jazz night” (which is held there each Thursday). Bowman’s is located on Rt. 32 in Upper Makefield, Pa., about 2 miles south of New Hope.
In addition to Michelle, the quartet featured three other highly talented area jazz musicians, including noted performer, arranger and composer Matthew Parish on acoustic bass. Matt was listed as the headliner on the venue’s website posting, but it could have as easily been Michelle, or for that matter, either of the other two performers. They were that good. The multi-talented foursome also included the always resourceful guitarist Sonny Troy, from Maple Shade, NJ, and the impressively adroit drummer Bill Avayou of Southampton, Pa.
Michelle treated the diners and other patrons to a medley of her favorites in her inimitable straightforward style, with no theatrics or blare . . . just her sweet unique take, whether she is singing one of the many timeless standards she has made her own, or the many other songs she has tucked in her repertoire.
In addition to her considerable artistic technique, Michelle is also quite personable and has a real knack for handling requests with obvious enthusiasm.
Thank you, Steve!
